ภาพถ่ายแบบดาแกโรไทป์ (Daguerrotype) คือ กระบวนการถ่ายภาพ ค้นพบโดย หลุยส์ แจค กัวส์ มันเด ดาแกร์ (Louis Jacgues Mande Dagurre) ที่พัฒนาขั้นตอนการถ่ายภาพลดลงจาก 8 ชั่วโมงเป็น 30 นาที เป็นการถ่ายภาพลงบนแผ่นเงินที่ขัดจนเรียบเงา ล้างทำความสะอาดด้วยแอลกอฮอล์ นำไปอังที่ไอปรอท เพื่อให้เกิดซิลเวอร์ไอโอไดด์ที่ไวแสง จากนั้นนำไปวางไว้ด้านหลังของกล้องดาแกโรไทป์ แล้วเปิดหน้ากล้องเพื่อถ่ายภาพ ลักษณะของภาพจะกลับซ้ายเป็นขวา ถ่ายได้เพียงครั้งละ 1 นำไปอัดขยายซ้ำไม่ได้
Daguerrotype is the process of photography, discovered by Louis Jacques Mand Dagurre. He reduced the shooting process from 8 hours to 30 minutes. Photographs was taken on a polished silver plate, clean with alcohol, to the mercury vapor. A photosensitive silver iodide is formed. Then place it behind the Daguerrotype’s camera. Turn on the cameras to take photo. The image will be reversed from left to right. It can take only one photo at a time, cannot be re-recorded. (The manual of photography 2011 :7)
การถ่ายภาพแบบเพลทเปียก (Wet-Collodion/Wet-plate) เป็นการพัฒนาวัสดุที่ใช้ถ่ายจากแผ่นโลหะมาเป็นกระจกและลดเวลาการถ่ายภาพโดยใช้เวลาเพียง 3 วินาที
ในปี พ.ศ. 2394 เฟรดเดอริค สกอต อาร์เชอร์ (Frederick Scott Archer) ได้ทำกระดาษไวแสงให้มีความไวแสง โดยใช้กันคอตตอน (Gun Cotton) ละลายในแอลกอฮอล์ และอีเธอร์ (Ether) ได้สารละลายเรียกว่า “โคโลเดียน” ชื่อทางเคมีว่า เซลลูไนเตรท (Cellulose Nitrate) มีลักษณะเป็นของเหลวข้น นำไปฉาบบนแผ่นกระจก แล้วจุ่มลงในสารซิลเวอร์ไนเตรท (Silver Nitrate) ให้ถ่ายภาพขณะที่ยังเปียกอยู่ เมื่อถ่ายภาพเสร็จนำแผ่นกระจกล้างในน้ำยากรดไพโรแกลลิก (Pyrogallic acid) ภาพจะปรากฏขึ้นชัด คงสภาพด้วยน้ำยาไฮโป (Hyposulphite – Sodium Thiosulphate) จากนั้นล้างด้วยน้ำเปล่าทำให้แห้งด้วยการอังเปลวไฟอ่อน ๆ ใช้น้ำมันชักเงาฉาบแผ่นกระจกเพื่อป้องกันความชื้นและรอยสกปรก (ทวีศักดิ์ กิจวิวัฒนาชัย 2544 : 203)
Frederick Scott Archer developed the Wet-Collodion in 1851. Wet Collodion is the development of material from metal sheet to mirror. It reduced time to take photo (only 3 seconds). He made photosensitive paper. By using Gun Cotton solvates in Alcohol and Ether to get a solution called ‘Collodion’ (Chemical name Cellulose Nitrate). Coat the mirror with the solution, then dip in Silver Nitrate solution. Take photo while wet and put the mirror in Pyrogallic acid solution. The photo appears and wash with Hypo (Chemical name Sodium Thiosulphate), water and dry it. He used a glass varnish to prevent moisture and dirt. (Taweesak Kidwiwattanachai 2544 :203)
